It is important to realize that all of us fall somewhere in between the extremes on each of these continuums.  Being sensitive to the styles of the students we teach and accommodating them as best as possible will increase the learning potential of the students. (Felder & Solomon)

This is the second time I've done the test and the results where very different!  I think that these results are very reflective of who I am, a visual learner who is perceptive and relates well in group situations, and actively engages in 'brainstorming' activities and other group tasks.

What is your learning style? What sorts of learning experiences would suit you best with your learning style?

My learning style is very much in the relms of Active/Intuitive with heavy emphasis on the Visual &  and 50/50 on Sequential and Global.  The learning experience that would suit me best is definitely visual, working in a team environment 'brain-storming' ideas.

In a traditional classroom of 25 students, how would you support the range of learning styles each lesson?

To support the range of learning styles I would try to present a balanced teaching strategy.  Using a rotational system to group students of differing learning styles together, and perhaps enhancing this further by utilising ICTs to form part of the class.

With your current knowledge of ICT, how could your design and digital pedagogy support your learners better?

The advances in technology have opened up a wide new world for educators and I think that the recent addition of the 'Interactive Whiteboard' to generate stimulating educational experiences is but one of many.  I would use this and others ie. computer based programs and web sites, to keep students engaged and motivated.

What sorts of profiling questions would you be asking about your learners to ensure you cater for everyone's preferences?

Some sample questions:
  • Do you prefer to read or watch TV/Presentations using other media?
  • Do you like group work or prefer to do it on your own?
  • Do you like 'hands-on' activities?
  • Do you like to dance, sing or tell stories?
  • Do you like to watch/listen to others?
How does ICT support differences in learning styles?

ICTs support todays classroom in a miriad of ways.

Giving learners new experiences that they can have control and input into.  Computer based learning is now enabling todays students to interact with the 'global' village ie internet.  We are now able to connect to a world of infinite possibilites which give students with varying learning styles a way to explore and challenge themselves, in their own way.
